Dr. Eric Velazquez, an esteemed bariatric surgeon, joined the prestigious Longstreet Clinic in October of 2021. Originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, he completed his Medical School education at the Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo. Dr. Velazquez furthered his training with a General Surgery Residency at Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Center in New York City and a Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Fellowship at the New York Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Westchester Medical Center.
With over a decade of experience serving the bariatric patient population, Dr. Velazquez is dedicated to combating obesity and improving patient outcomes. He has held various leadership positions, including Chief of Division for Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Temple University Hospital and Chief of Surgery at Temple University Hospital-Jeanes Campus. Throughout his career, he has mentored and guided numerous medical and surgical residents. Dr. Velazquez has actively participated in regional and national committees, including the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS) Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
